Longstanding CFO of the company to take the helm of Africa’s largest fishing company
(Cape Town) 31 July, 2018 – Having been the interim CEO of the organisation since February of this year, Imraan Soomra, the longstanding CFO of Oceana, was officially announced today as the company’s CEO.
“Imraan is highly respected within Oceana’s ranks and is a recognised leader among investors and stakeholders in the fishing industry,” said Mustaq Brey, the Chairman of the Oceana Group. “I am confident that he will bring strong leadership as well as a renewed energy to how the business is run.”
Soomra has been the CFO of Oceana Group Limited since July 2013.
“In addition to my deep understanding of the commercial and operational aspects of running Oceana, I bring to the role a passion for this business and its people as we continue to drive sustainable growth and increase our global footprint.”
Trevor Giles, a Charted Accountant, who has served in senior finance positions in the Group for the last 19 years, will step into the role of interim CFO until such time as a suitable candidate has been appointed.
